Combined pond filtration system for consistent water purification
The CrawTec FS 40–50 m³/h pond filtration system is designed for ponds with higher loads, where conventional pond filters are no longer able to cope with water purification. In koi ponds and fish ponds, the amount of organic matter is significantly higher than in ornamental ponds without fish. Food residues, suspended particles and waste products quickly overload pressure filters, which have to be rinsed daily. Yet the water often remains cloudy, and sludge accumulates at the bottom.
The combined pond filter in this series is designed with a two-stage purification system. The system includes a drum filter for mechanical cleaning and a separate biological filtration unit with integrated UV lamps. This configuration ensures stable water filtration in the pond even under intensive use and high fish density.
The pond water filtration system is supplied as a ready-to-install kit with a factory-fitted connection between the drum filter and the biological unit. This simplifies installation and allows the equipment to be used as the main filter for a fish pond without the need to select additional components.
Drum filter for ponds under increased load
As the volume of the pond and the number of fish increase, the mechanical load rises. Under such conditions, sponge filters quickly become clogged, and water ceases to pass through the filter media. As a result, pond filtration becomes unstable, and contaminants begin to decompose inside the filter. This leads to a deterioration in water quality and the growth of algae.
A drum filter for ponds solves this problem through automatic mechanical cleaning. Debris is removed from the system immediately and does not accumulate inside the housing. This is particularly important for koi ponds and water bodies with intensive feeding, where the amount of mechanical debris is significantly higher.
The use of drum mechanics allows for stable water filtration performance in the pond. Even when the load increases, the system continues to remove suspended particles and prevents the accumulation of organic matter in the biological unit.
Pond biofilter with UV water stabilisation
After mechanical cleaning, the water enters the biological filtration unit. The pond biofilter ensures the breakdown of dissolved contaminants and the stabilisation of water parameters. A bacterial colony develops within the media, which breaks down ammonia and fish waste products. This allows for stable pond filtration even under high biological load.
UV lamps are integrated into the biofilter housing, which further improve water clarity. UV treatment reduces algal blooms and decreases the amount of suspended algae. As a result, the pond water filtration system provides comprehensive purification and stabilisation of the water body.
Combining the biofilter and UV treatment in a single housing makes the system more compact and convenient to install. This solution is particularly suitable for private koi ponds, where high efficiency is required in a limited space.
What types of ponds is the 40–50 m³/h filtration system designed for?
The 40–50 m³/h pond filtration system is designed for ponds with a high load. These may include koi ponds, ornamental ponds with a large number of fish, and private ponds with intensive water circulation. Such conditions require more powerful filtration than in small ornamental ponds.
A combined pond filter allows several separate filters to be replaced by a single system. This simplifies operation and ensures consistent water purification. Thanks to automatic mechanical filtration, the need for frequent maintenance and rinsing of filter media is reduced.
The system is effectively used in the following types of water bodies:
- koi ponds with medium to high loads
- ornamental ponds with a large number of fish
- private ponds with intensive water circulation
- upgrading existing filtration systems
- replacement of several pressure filters with a single system
Under such conditions, the pond filter ensures stable water clarity and reduces the accumulation of organic matter. This allows for reduced maintenance frequency and improves the overall condition of the pond.
Ready-to-use water filtration system for koi ponds
The CrawTec pond filtration system (40–50 m³/h) is supplied as a ready-to-install kit. The drum filter and biofilter with UV are interconnected and designed to work together. This allows for quick installation and stable water filtration without complex configuration.
The combined pond filter provides sequential mechanical and biological purification. This setup helps maintain stable water parameters and reduces the build-up of contaminants. This is particularly important for koi ponds and fish ponds, where the load on the filtration system is significantly higher.
Using a ready-made pond water filtration system allows you to move from DIY solutions to a fully-fledged purification system. As a result, the need for frequent maintenance is reduced, water parameters are stabilised, and the reliability of the pond’s operation is improved.
