The design of the filter provides maximum cleaning efficiency due to the use of a three-stage filtration system, including sinking and floating bio-loading, as well as a special filter (sponge bioburden is not included in the filter price).

How does the biofilter work?

The filter consists of three chambers:

• The first chamber is equipped with a sinking bio-load. It forms an ideal environment for the development of aerobic bacteria, which decompose organics and purify the water from ammonia.
• The second chamber contains a floating bioburden with a working surface area of 1000 m²/m³, which promotes additional biological decomposition of harmful substances.
• The third chamber is filled with a polyurethane foam sponge, which traps fine suspended solids and serves as an additional medium for beneficial bacteria.
