Working principle of the CrawTec 3-chamber biofilter

The filter consists of three sections:

• The first camera will load with sinking bioburden, which provides primary decomposition of ammonia and nitrite.
• The second chamber is filling up with floating bioburden that promotes active nitrification and nitrogen reduction.
• The third chamber - shall contain a filter sponge made of polyurethane foam, which acts as an additional substrate for bacteria and final water treatment.
• Thanks to this distribution of biofiltration zones, the filter provides deep biological purification, reducing the level of harmful compounds and maintaining optimal water parameters. Bioburden is not included in the price of the filter.
